Boundaries

'Boundaries’ was originally an experiment to incorporate more white space into my work as a juxtaposition from the intensity of overlaying of colour and patterns.

It has now formed into an evolving body of work (more to come) that conceptually explores the ideas of freedom of individuality, but also the necessity of boundaries in relationships and communities.

The two ideas can often seem opposed to each other but are essential for the creation and maintenance of culture, harmony and even individuality. Boundaries both can conflict with individual expression but also help preserve individuality within us as we relate to each other, connect and learn from each other.

In the works I play on the human form and biological shapes to reflect my explorations and the tensions I am reflecting on. I desire the work to express the ideas we have in wrestling with our humanity.

These works are a mixture of inks, acrylic paint markers, pencils, gel ink pens and highlighters.
